We stayed at Good Fortune the week of 10/22-10/29/2016. We had some concerns about the weather having never vacationed in the panhandle this late in the year. We realize there are no guarantees, but the weather was fabulous and being from the Chicago area the Gulf and pool temps were quite tolerable as well. We came here with another couple to relax and we did just that. We had our dog Charlie with us as well. I was a bit concerned about the stairs because he is a twelve year old yellow lab that pushes the scale past 90lbs. I brought 40 rubber backed non-adhesive carpeted stair treads with, which along with having the landings every so many steps we were able to successfully navigate up and down. The house is anointed wonderfully, has a great view and plenty of space to enjoy and take in the views, the spice drawer was an added bonus. We had a fair amount of meals at the house, because when you're in paradise, why leave? In any case we had a great time with our friends who joined us this year. We actually surf fished for the first time this year and pretty much just enjoyed the beach as much as we could, which was everyday. We also visited Port St Joe, the Thirsty Goat(Billy Goat curse) seemed a necessary stop since the Chicago Cubs were in the World Series, which is a very infrequent occurrence. Perhaps by stopping here the curse was lifted, great place. We also took in Appalachicola one evening, which is always enjoyable. We grabbed a bite at Hole in the Wall and landed at the Owl to watch the game that night, both great places as well. I may be a bit biased after coming here for vacation the last six years, having friends in the community, and also having an investment in the community as well. I realize this is the Shevlin's house, and a beauty it is, so when I say this I am referring to the place in general. This is the first time I ever left from a vacation and felt like I was leaving home to go back to where I work and live. This truly is a wonderful place.

We were searching for the perfect place for our first family vacation with our 2 grown children and their families all under one roof. When we found the Good Fortune listing, we knew we had found the perfect place! 3 large bedrooms with king sized beds and their own bathrooms go a long way in maintaining family harmony! And the bunk beds were a hit with the 2 and 5 year old grandsons. Carrie has thought of everything needed for little ones; from the pack and play and highchair for our 7 month old granddaughter to the drawer full of kids plastic dishes. The beach chairs and toys were also great.
My husband and I enjoyed our bedroom located on the main living area, but our favorite feature was the outdoor shower! We never even used the indoor shower and my hubby is desperately trying to figure out how we can add one on our home without the HOA finding out!
Good Fortune is such a beautiful, spacious home and has everything you will need for a special vacation. Carrie is so attentive to all your needs and a pleasure to work with. Thanks for sharing your special home with our family!

My husband and I were blessed to have the opportunity to have our intimate wedding and family vacation at Good Fortune!
Carrie was incredibly accommodating, supportive, and thoughtful throughout the process. She was and has been consistently available and able to assist with any needs that we had during our time in Cape San Blas.
The house is absolutely beautiful. It is actually even more lovely in person than the very accurate pictures depict! We had our small wedding on a Sunday afternoon, and the setting could not have been better! The boardwalk and beautiful open beach area is just in front of the house, easily accessible, and the pool was perfect for the kiddos. The open concept kitchen and dining areas are great for family dinners and socializing. (We love to cook in while at the beach, and the kitchen is fully equipped!) We especially enjoyed having two balcony/outdoor sitting areas, perfect for a glass of wine with a sunset view.
As our family stayed throughout the week, the space was just perfect! Having two sitting areas with rooms spread out made for a very comfortable vacation. The house is truly as depicted, with a beautiful coastal, rustic, and contemporary feel. It is lovely, comfortable, and very welcoming.
Thank you Carrie! Everything was just perfect! We could not have picked a better location for our special day and family vacation. Truly thankful...and fortunate!

Cannot say enough good things about our stay at Good Fortune! We have been coming to Cape San Blas for 4 years now and this is by far the best house we have stayed in. From the location on the Cape, to the convenience to the beach to the beautiful decor, we had an amazing experience. With 2 small children and loads of baby beach gear, it was so easy just walking up the private boardwalk with everything. Walking back and forth to the house wasn't an inconvenience because it was so close. The pool was directly across the street and we were always the only people there. The setup of the house was perfect for our group and there was plenty of room for us to hang out in the living room. The balconies are large with perfect views. We enjoyed watching the sunset every night without having to leave the house. The kitchen had everything you would need and it was so nice that there was already a highchair and booster seat for the kids. Carrie was so wonderful and accommodating and such a pleasure to plan with. We can't wait to stay here again next year! Thank you for putting so much thought into making your guests feel so at home!

This house is gorgeous! The attention to detail is nothing like I've ever seen. I do believe Carrie has thought of everything. She was so easy to work with and checked on us throughout the week to make sure our stay at Good Fortune was nothing short of amazing. The house is beautifully decorated and also very comfortable. We have no complaints and it truly was the best place we have ever stayed. We can't wait to go back!

Good Fortune could not be more beautiful. Carrie has done an amazing job of decorating this house and making it truly feel like a home away from home. We have enjoyed our week here, and we are not ready to go home! Carrie was so easy to work with and we look forward to returning to Good Fortune very soon.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home! The colors and decor are perfect for a beach home and it was so well-stocked with everything. We had a wonderful time relaxing on the beach, taking long walks, watching sunsets and sun rises, letting off paper lanterns over the Gulf and collecting shells. We also rented bikes from Happy Ours for 3 days and enjoyed riding through the state park and many trips to the Trading Post for ice cream! We loved Weber's donuts and Joe Mama's pizza (but get there early). Rented paddle boards and kayaks from Scallop Cove Too in the state park for a beautiful time on the bay. Snorkeling with Seahorse Safaris was fun with lots of treasures found in the bay. We checked out Indian Pass Raw Bar, which was a great way to enjoy the nice evening weather as we waited outside with our drinks and listened to karaoke including song sung by our girls! However, I would get there much earlier than 6pm as we left after 45 minutes with 9 parties still to be seated before us. It was great to be back at the Cape for our 4th time and I'm sure we will come back again. Lots of fun memories and special family time.

After many years vacationing at the Cape, my family declared this our favorite house! Amazingly well-stocked kitchen (down to marshmallow roasting fork!), beach closet with all the essential beach gear, large outdoor shower perfect for "de-sanding" after a day on the beach, perfect covered area for bikes and drying beach towels, fabulous one-of-a-kind outdoor shower off the upstairs master bath, and amazing views! From the house we saw a deer, a bobcat(!), an armadillo, and a large land turtle (natives call them gophers). Our furry family members also appreciated their special towels, and the large crate stored under the bed saved us lots of space traveling! The antique touches Carrie has in the home, as well as the overall design esthetic, were much appreciated by our family which includes an architect, a photographer, an artist, and some avid Houzz/Pinterest fans!! It is obvious that a lot of thought and love went into planning this home for guests, and we very much appreciated Carrie's attention to detail, as well as her hospitality in calling to welcome us and make sure we had everything we needed during our stay. This is CSB at its best!!

Like others, our search landed us in this area for the beauty and because it was a bit more remote. Happily it was not too far a drive into town or Apalachacola and there are many options on the Cape as well.
This home stood out as a perfect fit for us and from day one the owners were beyond helpful. The home is as depicted in the pictures, beautiful. It sits back off the beach but with a clear view of the ocean and beautiful sunsets. The pool is conveniently right across the street so we could march the kids to beach, meals, naps, pool with great ease. The pool and beach toys were well stocked and in great shape. The beds were supremely comfortable. Rooms and baths luxurious. The kitchen was exceptionally well appointed with all standard tools and appliances and then some. There was an excellent selection of spices (I would check with the owner if you need something specific or bring your own though). Cooking was a breeze here!
As I said before, the owners of this beautiful home were exceptional from a welcome call to detailed communications and even a thank you card when we returned home. We have VRBO'd many times and have never received this level of care. A huge thank you to you and points for making sure that every guest wants to come back as quickly as they can. I know we will.

We've called the hillside goats on the shores of the British Virgin Islands from our sailboat home. We've cooled our toes in rocky North Carolina creeks. We've cracked crabs and beers on newspaper covered tables on the Maryland Eastern Shore. As friends for the last 13 years, we two couples have laughed, swam hiked and sipped our way through many beautiful adventures. Our greatest adventure though? Spending a week on the beaches of Cape San Blas with 4 kids under the age of 3. Luckily, we had the "Good Fortune" to stay in this beautiful home. Our vacations together no longer involve languid days of sunning and floating, but here on the Cape we have found new energy. What a wonderful place for our children to dip their toes in the Gulf for the first time, to witness painted ocean sunsets, to discover hermit crabs in the bay. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home so we could make new memories with our young families. We can't wait to return.

We selected Good Fortune after an extensive search because of the natural beauty of Cape San Blas. It is less commercialized than Destin and other areas of Northwest Florida. During the week, we made trips to the beach and the bay. We were able to see considerable wildlife including dolphins, manta rays, sea turtles and a baby shark. From the outset, our conversations with the owners were pleasurable and informative. They answered all of our questions in a timely manner and made our decision to vacation here very easy. The house was all that was advertised. It is very beautiful. Everything we needed was there. Access to the beach was easy. The owners were kind enough to call and welcome us and check on how we were doing. They even helped us get a sports package on Direct TV so we could watch the SEC baseball tournament. Our family and extended family numbering 10 made the trip and the house easily accommodated us with room to spare. Everything worked well. My parents, in their late seventies, made the trip and found the stairs challenging. Yet, they made it through the week. The children made it fine and enjoyed the week. We highly recommend Good Fortune to anyone. We have rented through VRBO in Northwest Florida for over ten years and would rate this one in the top three.

For those who have booked a stay a Good Fortune you can expect an incredible week at a beautiful property. We have stayed at many VRBO homes over the years and this home is by far the most exceptional one we've had the privilege to rent. The pictures on the site don't do the home justice. Carrie has designed and decorated a true gem. She's also stocked it with every amenity you could possibly want. We had a great week relaxing and surf fishing (catching pompano, sheephead and the occasional sting ray). We will definitely be return visitors to Good Fortune.
