Cape San Blas Get Away is thrilled to partner with Paper Towns Vintage on these items that make the perfect gift for yourself or someone else that loves Cape San Blas, Port St. Joe, Wewahitchka and the rest of Gulf County as much as you do.
In 1986, Senator George G. Tapper, created the George G. Tapper Foundation to ensure that non-profit organizations in the Bay, Gulf, and Franklin Counties would have an additional source of funding through a grant process.
The first meeting took place June 26, 1986 at George and Amelia Tapper’s home in Port St. Joe.
Amelia Tapper (George’s wife) served as the first chair of the board, Patricia (their daughter) was the Vice Chair, and several of George’s old time friends, the late David Carl Gaskin of Wewahitchka, J.V. "Bubba" Gander of Apalachicola, Larry Tyree, President of then Gulf Coast Community College, and last but not least, President Robert McSpadden of Gulf Coast State Community College made up the board.
The current board is made up of: Chair Patricia Tapper Warriner, Chair, David P Warriner, Managing Director, Amelia Marie Warriner, Greg Johnson, retired bank president, and Rex Buzzett, Chair of the George G. Tapper Golf Invitational.
Since it's inception, the Tapper Foundation has given just shy of $2 million in Bay, Gulf and Franklin counties.
Over the course of 30 years, the Tapper Foundation has supplied funding for 131 recipients, ranging from Gulf Coast State College, the American Cancer Society and Salvation Army to the Port St. Joe Junior Service League and Police Department Cadet Program.
Thank you all for your continued support and generosity throughout the years with our foundation. We really appreciate it. We are excited to keep giving and serving the communities we love!
